HOW TO FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR REFERRALS IN 6 EASY STEPS


PROCESSES, STRATEGY, SCRIPTS TO HELP YOU SIGN MORE BUSINESS THROUGH REFERRALS


Hi there my friend,


Zeny Bugos here and today we’re talking all about building your customer base through referrals.


If you do this right, you can create a lot of leverage through asking for referrals and connecting with them.


A referral lead is typically more inclined to look at your product, service or business because they would be considered more warm than a cold market prospect (someone you just met on the street for the very first time).

Just think about it... 

If someone referred you to use a plumber to fix your kitchen sink, would you put more weight on using that recommended referral instead of opening the yellow pages and just picking a random plumber?

Exactly!!! 

This is why referrals are so amazing. So how do you connect with the referrals that you’re given so that you look like a professional and you have the best outcome for signing more business?

It’s all about following a simple process and being consistent with it


SO HERE’S HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK MOST EFFECTIVELY ONCE YOU GOT THE REFERRAL CONTACT INFO: 


1. Get The Introduction


Once you’ve gotten their details, ask the person that shared their details with you to make the introduction so it’s not weird when you connect with them.

I usually ask them to send a quick text to let them know who I am and that I’ll be reaching out.

Super Tip: Ask them to share an edification point. So for example: 


“Hey John, I just want to send you a text to let you know that my good friend Mary might connect with you in the next couple days. Mary is very connected here in __________ (company or business) and she’s looking for a few sharp people that have an Entrepreneur mindset. I told her to connect with you and see how it goes”


An edification point is sharing something nice or important about the person so the referral is more excited or curious to take the call and it sets up the call to be taken seriously.


2. Connect Within A Couple Hours


I don’t like to pounce on my people and I don’t like to look desperate so this is where you play it cool.

Within a 2-hour window (I don’t like to wait more than 2 hours) send your referral a message to set up the connection. Either text or phone call works best.

Here’s an example of what I like to say: 


“Hey John, Zeny Bugos here. I got your info from Bob and I think he connected with you today and let you know that I would be reaching out. Bob mentioned that you have an Entrepreneur mind and that we should connect. Are there a few times this week that would work to meet for 15-20 mins?”


If you send this in a text and you don’t hear back within a few hours, pick up the phone and call. You might have the wrong number and you’ll want to rule that out. Also, any professional would follow that up with a call if they didn’t hear back.


3. Schedule It

Schedule a time that works for the both of you. In person is best, but if you can’t make an in-person meeting work, by phone is great too.


4. Ask Questions & See If They’re a Fit 

This is where you have to have some posture and remember that you should be qualifying your prospects to see if you’d like working with them.

Most people in Network Marketing want to sign everyone up... Not ME and you shouldn’t want that either. 

You’re building a team and customer base that you want to be excited about and they should have some qualities to be able to join the ‘Dream Team.’

Here are a couple questions that I would ask during this phase of the process:

1. So John, Bob mentioned that you have a good Entrepreneurial mindset, tell me a bit about that? 

2. What do you currently do for a living? 

3. What’s the end goal? 


You don’t have to ask too many, but these will help you determine how to approach the pitch and what their hot points are, from there you can go into your regular process for presenting or setting up a presentation.

I’m very relaxed and non-pushy with my business and it tends to relax the situation as a whole. I never pounce on my prospects because I want them to know that I’m analyzing to see if they would even qualify to hear more.

Side Note: Don’t mistake relaxed with not serious about my process and business. 


5. Set It Up

After a bit of conversation and listening to where they’re at, if I think they’d be cool to work with, I’ll say something like:


“John, I think you’d love what we’re working on, but I can’t know for sure unless you see all the details. I can’t promise you anything, but if you saw a way that you could make some serious money without it interfering with what you’re already doing, would you be open to learning more?”



I might add some verbiage in there if they mentioned a want or need in our conversation that my product, service or business would serve to also make it more relevant.

Super Simple and Professional Right?


6. The Extra Professional Touch 

Not a lot of people do this and I wish they did. This will make you stand out from all the other Networker's out there and this will also get you more referrals.

When someone shares any referrals with you, send them a Thank You card.

If any of those referrals turn into business, send them Brownies

I use a service called SendOutCards to do this, but you can find any service you like.... just do it. 

Imagine how much more business you’ll get if you take care of the people that are confident sending you business.
